Hey there Mighty Survivors,

It is great to come up in front of you and deliver an update full of news and developments.

Past few weeks, we have been receiving a lot of feedback from our backers all around the world. When we look beyond the manufacturing challenges we have encountered in this campaign, we see that we have accomplished a super fun game for almost all player types. We know that Board Royale will continue to bring “memory-worthy experiences” for years to come.

If you have been following the updates, you should've known that we had a struggle with the product quality of our manufacturer. We have been reluctant to post a new update before we gather all the necessary information. We have been, however, trying to be very active in the comment sections and trying to reply to your emails daily (If there is an email that you've sent us and not answered yet, we will be returning to them as soon as we can).

So let us briefly summarize what happened until now, what we are working on right now, and the developments that you can expect in the near future.

What Happened?

We had shipped out almost 90% of all pledges before we started receiving some reports of inconsistent quality in our products. We have stopped the shipment of the remaining 10% which includes Australia, some Asia shipments, a small portion of the US, the rest of the world, and Collector’s Edition shipments, and tried to understand the state of our products.

We asked you to send all the issues that you have encountered to [email protected]. We want to thank everyone who has reported their issues. It helped us greatly to understand the level of the issues. So far we have received issues from 13% of our backers ranging from small mistakes like missing cards to outright disasters like printing on the wrong cardboard.

Small or big, we know it is heartbreaking to receive a game that you have been expecting for so long and receive anything less than absolute perfection.

This is why we want to guarantee you that we are going to resolve ALL your issue in one way or another until we receive 100% backer satisfaction. You will be receiving your compensation in line with the replies that you have received in your emails.

Where Are We Now?

We decided we cannot in good conscience continue to ship out products, ranging from a single card to full packs, that have at least 13% manufacturing mistakes. This is why we have been seeking options for compensating the shipped-out products and ensuring consistent quality in future compensation shipments.

We have decided to move forward with 2 options to ensure the future quality of our products.

  1.  Continuing the production with the current manufacturer
     

We have gone into a massive dispute with our current manufacturer for issues they have created for us. We have forced them to re-manufacture the upcoming shipments and compensation items for our already shipped backers with a consistent and highest level quality.

They have agreed to make one more batch of production with increased quality assurance and learning from the reports coming from our backers. The major issue was to find black-core playing card paper as there was a massive paper shortage at the time. They have managed to find German-made Koehler branded papers to use in this batch. They have used a single type of cutting system to prevent misalignment issues.

It is now in the cutting process and we are randomly checking for samples to ensure the quality.

We are hopeful that this manufacturing process will be completed without any issues and will start shipping all our waiting backers who either have not received their pledge yet or are awaiting their compensation items.

That being said, in case of these mass manufacturing results are not consistent as well, we have implemented a second option to have a backup plan.

  •  Manufacturing with LongPack
     

LongPack is one of the leading board game manufacturers in the world and we have been in touch with them since our first campaign. After making a huge mistake and agreeing with a manufacturer in Turkey in pursuit of higher quality and faster delivery times (so ironic) we have decided to never work with anybody that is not incredibly experienced in what they do.

So we are thrilled to announce that we have agreed with LongPack for the manufacturing of our all Board Royale manufacturing from now on and the manufacturing of our upcoming board game “REACH: Tactical Space Race of Everyday Astronauts”.

What Happens Next?

In the following weeks, we will start receiving the 2nd manufacturing of Board Royale and shipping them out to our backers who requested a replacement for their items or who haven’t received their items yet.

Suppose for some reason this batch is also problematic. In that case, we will be sending you the LongPack production which will be manufactured and shipped along with our upcoming campaign REACH and is expected to be delivered within 6 months of the period.

We have made a commitment to you to make all our backers happy with their pledges and we have no intention of stopping until we get there.

Please do not hesitate to contact us through [email protected] with any of your requests and be sure that we will do everything in our power to make it happen.

If you are among the 10% that haven’t received their items yet and absolutely don’t want to spend any more minutes without your Board Royale, please get in touch with us, we can send your pack from the previous batch. We just want you to know that if any issue arises with your pack, it is extremely costly in your regions to send a compensation pack so we kindly ask you to give it a few more weeks until the new batch gets manufactured.

REACH: Tactical Space Race of Everyday Astronauts

After a survival adventure on a ruthless island, now it’s time to discover the unknowns of the universe to reach our new home! We have been postponing the REACH: Tactical Space Race of Everyday Astronauts campaign as much as we can but if we keep postponing it any longer, the timeframe for the production will be closed for a year.

As we have mentioned above, we have made an agreement with Longpack regarding the manufacturing of Reach. So we believe that there won’t be issues with consistency in the manufacturing phase.

Our new campaign REACH: Tactical Space Race of Everyday Astronauts will be on Kickstarter on September 5th! So the journey to the new home awaits! If you want to join this journey, click the “Notify me on launch” button on the pre-launch page!

Addressing Reported Issues & Shipment Updates

Hey there Mighty Survivors,

It is good to be talking to you, we hope everything goes well on your end.

Firstly, we are sorry for not sending updates as frequently as we would like to. With due respect, we always want to give you precise information and we are waiting for everything to settle before posting a meaningful update.

In the last couple of weeks, the majority of the backers have received their rewards. And send us a lot of feedback about the game itself and the production quality. For the gameplay experience, we are thrilled to hear that you have an amazing time playing our new expansions and love the different vibe they are bringing to Board Royale. At the same time, however, it is soul-crushing to hear some backers are having problems with quality issues, misprints, and missing products. Before we start explaining the outcomes of our research and our potential solutions to the problems, we want to apologize from the deepest of our hearts to all our backers who received their games in any less than perfect condition. Making this game the highest possible quality was our only demand from the manufacturer and unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case.

As we always pointing out, we are a company that seeks 100% backer satisfaction and we are not planning to stop until every single one of you is happy with their game.

For us to be able to evaluate the problems with your reward and work on a solution for you we kindly ask for you to send an email to [email protected] with a detailed list of your issues so we can add them to our database and plan how to compensate for your problems. If you have any issues please reach us with this email, we are trying to collect all information from one channel to be sure all gets reported and listed. With this list, we will know which items have certain problems and we will investigate with the manufacturer to solve them. For example, the NSFW pack has the highest error rate so in that batch there might be a clear error.

Let us go through some of the most common issues that were reported and let you know how we are planning to work on them.

Missing Travel Bag

This issue is unfortunately caused by our internal team. We should’ve given order lists with a plus Mini Travel Bag for the “New Survival Bundle” but we have given a missing packing list to the logistics team. Unfortunately, all backers that backed “New Survival Bundle” are missing their travel bags so we are taking immediate action to send them to you asap. We are sorry for our mistake and please stay tuned for the secondary tracking code.

Missing Linen Ending in the Back

We have received a lot of questions asking if the lack of linen ending in the back of their cards is normal or a defect. When we requested information from our manufacturer on why the linen ending is not implemented on both sides, we were informed that all linen ending that is applied to the cards after the manufacturing is made through one side as a common practice.

We were told that applying from one side needed to create enough texture on the back too and we were informed that our previous production used the same method. Thus, while the linen ending was purposely implemented from one side, it looks like it wasn’t strong enough to make the back texture as strong as it should be. This may have been caused by not applying enough pressure during the texturing process or the extra sturdiness resulting from the UV light printing technology. This is something across all our products so we need to consider this the normal state of our cards.

We are sorry that the texture in the back of the cards is not as strong as in our previous production and we will be more on top of this process in our future productions. Even though, if these one-sided linen cards are really an unacceptable issue for you, please reach out to us anyway. We would like to solve this problem for you as much as we can.

If the cards are missing the linen ending on both sides that is a total error in the mass production and we will replace them as soon as possible if you send an email to [email protected].

Missing Cards, Expansion Packs & Items

We are starting to send the missing cards, expansion packs, and items as soon as we can. We are going to use your addresses from the Kickstarter. As we mentioned in our previous update, if you have any missing components, damaged and misaligned cards please send an email to [email protected]. We will send you missing cards or full expansions as soon as we can.

Size Issues on Sleeves

From the reported issues with the sleeves, we share your disappointment as well and apologize on behalf of the manufacturer again for delivering such a problematic product.

The main reported issue with the sleeves is the size. We are receiving a lot of reports that many of the widths of the sleeves are not sufficient enough to house the cards. We do not understand how this kind of a problem can occur because both the sleeve machines and cards use standard cutting systems and there shouldn’t have been any irregularity with the sizes since they used common practices for the production of the sleeves. We are in touch with our manufacturer to implement a refund process for impacted sleeves and will be updating you about it along the way.

From the samples and manufactured products that we received, we did not encounter such an issue but the reports that we are receiving indicate that it is a common issue.

That is said if you are not happy with the sleeves and do not want to use them, please send us an email to [email protected] regarding the issues so that we can understand the size of the issue and forward it to the manufacturer for compensation. After our investigation, we are going to start negotiating with the manufacturer to begin the refund process.

What Now?

Since we have started the problem reports we have been working on how to create proper replacement products that will turn this bad experience around. As this manufacturing was very limited with the paper and they were already used to deliver these products, the manufacturer is in search of high-quality black core paper for some time to start production of the replacement expansions.  Currently, the manufacturer works on a potentially suitable paper, we will update you if it is up to our standards when we see samples.

As a backup plan, we are in touch with alternative manufacturers and they are ready to step in if we encounter any more problems with our current manufacturer. However, this would take much longer so we want to be able to solve the issues with the current manufacturer.

About Australia, Rest of the World & Collector’s Edition Shipments

After receiving inconsistency issues in several regions we want to double-check all the boxes to be sent to AU, the Rest of the world, and for the collector's edition. Since they are not dispatched yet we have a chance to double-check all of them to be sure they are all in good condition.

We are sorry for keeping you waiting but sending you a perfect pack is more important to us to send it quickly. We hope you can understand.

Fulfillment Status

The UK - In the last update, we said that you should expect to receive tracking numbers very soon since GamesQuest received and reviewed all items and set them in their system. But apparently, they are having busy times based on the UK games Expo and couldn't make it on time. Because of that, they couldn’t start the shipments last week. We hope they will start the fulfillment process as soon as they can. We are constantly checking the statuses of all the orders on their dashboard.

Rest of the EU - As you know we have faced an accident in Europe and nearly the 50% of the boxes are damaged. So we have started the production of new boxes right away. Currently, all the boxes are reproduced and we are going to send these boxes to Germany this week. Then, Fulfillment EU is going to help us to repack these boxes and begin sending them.

CANADA - Spaceful has started the fulfillment. If you are from Canada and haven’t received your reward, please let us know.

USA - USA fulfillment has also started. Not all the orders have been shipped but PackYak is scheduling them according to distance and order quantity. Also, PackYak is sending tracking emails via the Shopify system. If you unsubscribed from our mail list, you won’t be able to receive tracking information. Also, you can check out your spam folder. If you haven’t received your reward, please let us know and we can send you your tracking information.

ASIA - Asia inventory has arrived in the VFI inventory. Unfortunately, there are some damaged goods. Luckily it does not look like there are as much damaged products as it was in the EU. They are unpacking the pallets and will send us a report about the damaged goods. Hopefully, there are not that many damaged boxes and we can complete the fulfillment. VFI is scheduling the fulfillment, as well. Hopefully, they are going to start the shipments this week.

“Reach” Kickstarter Campaign Launch Date Update

As we announced earlier, we were preparing ourselves for our new project “Reach: A Tactical Space Race”. We were hoping that we wouldn’t encounter any issues with the delivered items and we would launch the campaign on June 15th. Even though we received a green light to launch our campaign we decided to wait until we sort out everybody’s issues so we decided to postpone it to August. With respect, we will make it up to all of you and will go on an amazing space journey afterward.

Conclusion

Again, in Board Royale 2nd print, nothing goes as smoothly as planned on the manufacturer side and we are facing every challenge that comes to us. With those experiences, we are becoming more resilient and experienced creators. Your patience and support make us come over all of this. Shipment Updates, Reported Problems, Compensations

We are excited to see that some of you have started to receive your packs and have already had a chance to enjoy Board Royale with all its newest experiences. We are always excited to hear your feedback and experiences so please continue to share your experiences on discord or in the comment section!

That is said, we have been receiving some reports of problems from a few of our backers and we wanted to address everything we are hearing so far.

In comparison to delivery numbers, the problematic orders look like a small proportion of the orders. We want you to know that as a company that seeks 100% community satisfaction, we are here to make it up to you if you have any problems.

Let’s start by updating you on the current shipping status.

Shipment Updates

EU Undamaged games - Most of the games are on the road or delivered, please check your e-mails for tracking numbers. We send all undamaged games randomly to be fair for everyone. If you didn’t receive a tracking number then probably your pledge is in the next batch which will be produced at the moment. Please accept our sincere apology for the accident that we reported in the previous update. We will give you the detailed information in the following days. Thanks to our partner, Fulfillment EU, most of the packages are delivered in good condition.

UK - Gamesquest received and reviewed the inventory. Everything looks ready to go. You can expect to receive tracking numbers very soon.

CANADA - Our partner Spaceful received and reviewed the inventory. Everything looks ready to go. They are preparing to start the shipments, you can expect to receive tracking numbers very soon.

USA - All goods are sent to the airport waiting in line for departure to the USA. Expected to be delivered to the warehouse next week and our partner is waiting to receive it. They will quickly pick up and deliver as fast as possible. We want to take extra measures after the accident in the EU and used caged pallets to carry the games. It took a little bit longer than expected.

Extra Protection Measurements

ASIA - Asia inventory is on the way to the VFI warehouse. There was a little wait at the customs. We are expecting VFI to receive inventory the next week. After that, they will begin to review the inventory and start the fulfillment process.

AUSTRALIA - Australia's inventory is still getting ready for shipment. We had a delay on this side due to some customs and paperwork preparations. But we are hoping to send them as soon as possible via airplane.

REST OF THE WORLD & COLLECTOR’S EDITION - Collector’s Edition boxes are waiting to be packed. When they are packed, all the Collector’s Edition boxes and Rest of the World deliveries will be sent at the same time.

Some Little Details To Point Out

Where is the Collectible Token?

Some of our backers reported that they have a missing token at first glance. Since the token gives access to the secret stash of Kraken industries, it should be inside the secret weapons pack.

Typo in Missions Expansion Card Count 

We realized that we have made a mistake while preparing files for the Missions Expansion pack. It’s written 1/96 cards in the bottom right corner of the cards but in fact, it’s 60 cards in total. The card numberings are correct but the total number over the cards is wrong. Apologies for the typo, it should be 1/60 as it was written on the package or in the rulebook.

In addition, the first line of the rulebook is written as “3 to 6 players” instead of “2 to 6 players”. Those typos are a shame of ours.

Reported Problems

Firstly, we are so sorry to hear that a few of our backers received their items in unacceptable condition. After all the work put into the game and design, and your unexpected long wait, it is so devastating to see that some products don’t match our quality standards.

If you followed along our journey, we were very hopeful with our new production partner for many reasons; the paper that was going to be used was Canadian paper, and our manufacturer was a poker cards manufacturer that had a reference from great brands.

Before and after manufacturing, we do check samples of all items to be sure they reached good quality. Since it's mass production, unexpected errors may occur along the way. However, to receive these reports from you, and to hear those inconveniences, really saddened us.

At this point, we are monitoring the situation and making a list of disqualified or missing items. The error rates are around %3 according to the reports that our backers sent us, hopefully, it will be kept under that.

Also, we have started an investigation on the manufacturer's side. And we are trying to understand the reasons for these inconveniences.

Solution & Compensation

We are going to negotiate with the manufacturer about compensation and after the fulfillment is completed, we will be making a full list of disqualified products. Our plan is to start the compensations based on regions and replacements.

If there are any missing items or unacceptable products like no-linen texture cards, miscuts outside the frame, or any other damages on the cards, etc. we are here to compensate for them and send the new ones to you right after the fulfillment is completed. It’s soul-crushing to receive such sad news after facing many challenges, huge efforts, and long delays.

These experiences taught us many things and hopefully, they will not happen in our next manufacturing decision.

Hey there Mighty Survivors,

Well, we are so close to the fulfillment and as we are getting close to the end we want to thank all of you for your support since the beginning of the campaign. During this year we have gone through a lot of things. Some were good things, some were bad things. There were delays, issues during the manufacturing and a couple of other things that we couldn’t foresee but at the same time we learned a lot along this way especially about the manufacturing.

We appreciate each and every one of you for your patience and we want to say you were amazing supporters along this journey. We couldn’t do this much without your amazing support and good will.

We don’t want to linger on the words much more and go right to the topic:

Shipment Is About To Start

In the latest update, we told you that the assembly was about to start and will end in the middle of March.

Unfortunately, assembly took longer than we anticipated because we wanted each of the boxes to be completed without any error. So the assembly extended for a week and it was finalized last week. However, all the boxes are ready now and all the products are palletized for shipment.

This week, we are ready to ship them to the EU, UK, US, CA, Asia and Australia regions. We are making the last minute preparations for shipments to proceed without any issue.

For Europe and the UK, we will use truck shipments. From Turkey, it might take 1-2 weeks for the products to reach our fulfillment centers. After a receiving and preparation week, our fulfillment partner will begin the shipments as soon as possible. We anticipate that EU and UK countries will begin getting their rewards in Mid to Late April.

For the US, Canada, Asia, and Australia we will be using air shipment. Air shipment would take a couple of days to arrive at airports. Then, we will transfer the products to the fulfillment centers via trucks. Again, after nearly a week of receiving and preparations, the fulfillment will begin as soon as possible. We believe that the UK and Canada will start getting their rewards in mid to late April. Asia and Australia might wait until early-May for their rewards to start the distribution.

The Rest of the World will receive their products via our partner, VFI. In some places, VFI takes too much time to send the shipment, so we are planning to send via DHL directly from our manufacturer to these countries. These countries will likely get their rewards after mid-April. (Disclaimer: These are based on average assumptions that if we don’t live any issue during the customs. And these assumptions may vary based on custom processes for different countries.)

Collector’s Edition boxes will be sent via special packaging directly from the manufacturer to you. We will be sharing the timeline of Collector’s Edition shipments in future updates.

Shipment Tracking Codes

As we received the tracking codes from our fulfillment partners, we will send them via e-mail. We are going to send them to e-mails you used to login to Kickstarter. These e-mails can drop to your spam file so keep an eye out for an e-mail that is sent from Arvis Games.

We are doing our best to complete all deliveries in April.

A Chapter Is Ending, Another One Begins

If you are following our social media channels or a member of our Discord server, you should’ve already known that we have been getting prepared for a brand new board game called: “Reach: A Tactical Space Race”

We have been designing and developing this game for nearly a year and a half. It evolved a lot during this journey. Making a sci-fi board game was our biggest desire to pull off and we believe “Reach” fulfilled this desire.

Reach is a competitive turn-based space odyssey for 2 to 4 players, where you discover the marvels of the universe, rescue rookie space travelers, scavenge resources, improve your crew and ship, by using deck building, hand management and variable phase order mechanics. Your goal is to secure a safe landing onto the new planet and collect the most victory points to win the game. To do that, gather your crew and place them strategically to your ship departments to overcome the challenges of space before others, while keeping an eye on your landing requirements.
